Join ANMS cello faculty Sara Wilkins and Aaron Packard, violin, for Music of Années Folles: Stripped Bare, an afternoon of music by Maurice Ravel, Arthur Honegger, and Bohuslav Martinů. Dépouillement, roughly translating to “bareness,” describes the post-war fashion of removing excess and extravagance to reveal the essentials. In music, this trend manifested in smaller ensembles and sparser textures, exemplified by the string duo. We will also feature a new arrangement by local composer David Ibbett, connecting the 1920s to the 2020s.
